About ThadThad’s music is inspired by his life, family, and relationship with the Lord. It is a blend of classical and contemporary sounds, created for relaxing and meditating. Music to soothe the soul, relax the mind, and reflect upon. Thad’s songs are picturesque journeys and expressions of passion, emotion, and experiences. Thad's music often combines a unique rhythmic sense (particularly his use of rubato), with melodic simplicity and counterpoint. The fusion often produces a particularly delicate sound in the balance between melody and harmony, and also creates rhythmically, a soft and interesting harmonic feel.Grand Design is Thad's first solo piano project, released in 2006. Musically it is a blend of simplicity and technique; melodic, and impressionistic. VAST is Thad’s second solo piano album, released in June of 2008. It is also a mix of emotional impressions, and thoughtful melodies, but more simple and calming. Love Without Words is Thad’s newest album, released in 2010, which follows similar musical patterns but with even more emotion and thoughtful melodic expressions than the previous CD’s. Much of the new music was written for and inspired by his family and friends. Thad’s music has been reviewed by Mainly Piano Publications and described as “music that blends a wealth of experience with deep emotion, creating a distinctive sound that is accessible to all yet complex enough for a more discerning ear, “very calming and uplifting”, “deeply emotional musical soliloquy where only heartfelt truths are spoken – stunning”! Vast was rated one of the best CDs for relaxation of 2009. In 2006 Thad joined Whisperings Solo Piano Radio which has been rated the #1 radio station on the internet for solo piano, and also includes legendary piano artists, David Lanz, Robin Spielberg, Suzanne Ciani, David Nevue, Wayne Gratz, and Michael Dulin. He has also recently joined Sky.fm radio, and Pandora radio. In 2009 Thad won Best Music for Animation at the Swan Lake Moving Images and Music Awards for his song Gentle Whisper, off the album Vast.Originally from Ottumwa Iowa, Thad currently lives in Missouri, and is married with three beautiful children. He has a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and a Degree in Music. He has been writing and composing music from an early age, which is his focus and passion. Thad grew up listening and studying classical music, which typically resounds some way in his music. He studied piano, violin, guitar, and percussion throughout his school years, and is currently focused on the piano and digital instruments. In the near future He hopes to start working on other instrumental CD's with orchestration, and a Vocal project with his wife. Thad is also a dedicated youth pastor, and worship leader, whose passion is to serve the Lord.Thad's original intention for composing music is for background music, or for times of meditation or relaxation, especially for his three young children. His music is designed for a time of calm easy listening or for events where background music is needed. Thad’s music has been played all over the world, in daycares, spa’s, retail stores, and business offices, for art shows, dinner parties, banquets, and weddings.

Thad desires to use his gifts and talents to glorify the Lord and draw others to Him, and create music that provides the listener with relaxing, meditative music that not only helps them unwind, but also relax from the stress of everyday living. Other than writing music, Tha'd's focus in ministry is Youth pastor (6+years) and leading Worship with his wife (12+years).

slide 4 Love Without WordsThad's newest CD released in 2010 is dedicated to family and friends, and reflects the passion and love He has for them through the expression of music; pure, relaxing, and inspirational piano, blending classical and contemporary sounds, music you can relax to. The CD also depicts the importance of showing and demonstrating the love of Christ through service and truth, and is based on scriptures found in 1 John 3:18. My children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. The CD also expresses how we cannot fully understand Christ's love for us, or his plans for our life, especially not with words, whether spoken, written, or in our mind. 1 Corinthians 2:9. But as it is written, "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard," nor has it entered into the heart of man, "the things which God has prepared for those who love Him." Notes from the composer:The release of this CD marks 10 years of marriage to my beautiful wife Laura. The love we share has not only helped to inspire the music you hear, but also create a love that words cannot describe. I hope and pray that these songs will also be for you as they have for me, a reflection of time spent with loved ones, moments remembered, and memories cherished for a lifetime.

slide 5 VastVAST, Thad's second CD, released in 2008 is a musical journey and expression of passion, emotion, and experiences, created to convey the blessings received from God's overwhelming love, mercy, and goodness. Based on scriptures found in Ephesians 3:14-21 which says: For this cause I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, of whom the whole family in Heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man; that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth and length and depth and height, and to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge, that you might be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, forever. Amen. Notes from the composer:From the healing of my son Ross, the gifts of family, and the wonder of His creation; to the leading of his still small voice, the peace in His arms, and the praise He alone deservies, these songs are a testimony in my life of God's Vast immeasurable love, mercy and goodness. slide 6 ImpromptusImpromputs Vol.1 CD released in 2009 was a sort of experiment in the making. Thad spends many hours recording improv, and decided to put together a CD containing songs created over a period of about a year (2008). The Impromptus Vol. 1 CD is the result. Thad Plans on releasing more volumes in coming years.By definition an impromptu is a musical composition or performance with little or no previous preparation, such as an improvisation. Although there is generally no form or structure associated with an impromptu, it did in the 19th Century, become a term used for compositions with clear-cut forms, such as ternary and rondo. Pieces such as Four Impromptus, Op. post. 142 (D. 935) by Schubert, and impromptus by Chopin and Liszt, often used some form or structure. Thad’s impromptus typically have no form or structure, and are created by simply hearing or briefly playing a melody or musical idea, then improvising through the piece while beginning the recording process. Each piece is then completed primarily with little or no preparation. Thad typically spends several hours a week practicing improvisation, and recording his sessions as he practices, which in-turn has produced the impromptus created so far.

slide 7 Grand DesignThad's first CD created in 2006, a sort of musical experiment to test the waters of solo piano composition. Thad put together songs created from as early as his childhood, (Tapestry, Mother's Devotion, and Remember Me) through his College years, to create a one of a kind collage of musical ideas. The theme behind Grand Design is the beauty of God's creation, and the Grand plans for His people. Based on scriptures found in Jeremiah 29:11-13, For I know the plans I have you, says the Lord; plans of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you shall call on Me, and you shall go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you shall seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

Inspired by the love of family and friends as well as cherished memories of time spent with them, this album overflows with warmth, joy, and spiritual peace. A husband (for ten years!) and the father of three children, Fiscella’s love for and devotion to his family really sings throughout this music. A pianist who grew up studying classical music, he also played violin, guitar and percussion throughout his school years. Fiscella’s understanding of a variety of instruments and musical styles is readily apparent in his original music. He is also a youth pastor and worship leader, and brings a deep sincerity and humility to his musical style. His original intention was to compose background music or music for meditation or relaxation - especially for his three young children - so the music has a gentle, peaceful flow, but his touch and the pieces are so beautiful that the music really deserves to be listened to with full attention. Love Without Words opens with “Lovely (Laura’s Song),” composed for Fiscella’s wife. Tender yet strong with a gentle grace, it’s a gorgeous love song. “Forever (The Proposal)” is another beauty. It begins very quietly, almost tentatively, but gradually gains more confidence and passion - a favorite! I love the lightly percussive right hand against the flowing left hand in “New Rain.” Dreamy, reflective, and very soothing. I also really love the passionate “Devotion.” A bit darker (in a minor key), this one comes from the depths of the soul. “Mayapple Road” has the sunny warmth and simple joy of a perfect day. “My Sweet Girl” conveys the heartfelt and protective love of a devoted dad. Another stand-out is the introspective “October Fade.” Melancholy and full of longing, it’s an incredible expression of deep emotions. “Never Goodbye” brings this lovely album to a close with the warm embrace of a reassuring musical hug. Love Without Words is Thad Fiscella’s best album yet, so give your ears and mind a treat with this one! It is available from Amazon, CD Baby, and iTunes. Recommended!

A composer from a young age with a solid background in classical music, Fiscella blends a wealth of experience with deep emotion, creating a distinctive sound that is accessible to all yet complex enough for a more discerning ear. “Vast” begins with “Adorn,” a sunny, upbeat piece with a gentle energy that sets the tone for the album. “Angel Kisses” is sweet and tender, overflowing with love. “Ivory Hymn” has a quiet, pensive grace that captivates as it soothes. “Gentle Whisper” is one of my favorites. A bit less structured than some of the pieces, it seems to flow from deep within - reflective yet comforting. “Evenscene” has a gentle motion underlying a soft-spoken melody - another beauty! “Opalescence” is more free-form, shimmering in the light as the title implies - graceful and elegant. “Child In My Arms” is my favorite on this album. A sense of joy mixed with the awe one feels while holding an innocent child comes through the tender notes of the music. I’m reminded of Debussy’s approach to playing the piano as though it has no hammers - Fiscella has that kind of velvet touch. My other favorite is the closing track, “When Leaves Fall.” Wistful and melancholy, this is a deeply emotional musical soliloquy where only heartfelt truths are spoken - stunning! “Vast” could very well be on my Favorites list for 2009. I give it my highest recommendation for solo piano music for relaxation - it’s a beauty!

Quiet and reflective, the music relies more on emotional depth than pianistic flash, making it an excellent choice for background music as well as for active listening. I really enjoyed listening to it while driving from California to Oregon a few weeks ago - very calming and uplifting. The CD opens with “Letters of Grace,” a piece that reminds me of David Nevue in places. A bit more energetic than some of the tracks, the feeling is lighthearted and optimistic. “Close to Home” conveys warmth and deep contentment - very peaceful and comfortable. “Remember Me” is a favorite. Somewhat nostalgic and bittersweet, a strong sense of longing pours out of every note and phrase. Fiscella’s use of rubato is especially effective here, making the piece sound very spontaneous and sincere. “Longing For Emma” is another beauty. The gentle rhythm and occasional pauses make it sound almost conversational. “My Eve” has a lovely, dreamy flow that is both evocative and soothing. “Reed’s Song” is full of innocence and playfulness, a love song for a child. The title track also reminds me of David Nevue in places. Its subtle energy is infectious, and then the piece pulls back to a more thoughtful space, and then alternates between lively and reflective - a fascinating piece! “Mother’s Love” is full of grace, comfort, and warmth - something like a long musical embrace. “With Love” concludes the album with a simple, tender “so long.” “Grand Design” is a very enjoyable debut, and shows great promise for Thad Fiscella. Page 13 About the SongsIf you have ever wondered about the names of my songs, this is for you!The first song I feel needs an explantion is Longing for Emma off of my first album Grand Design: When I first married my wife, I always had a strong desire to be a father, even more so to be a daddy's girl. I could remember seeing some of my friends with their daughters, and longing for the day when I too could hold close, laugh with, and spoil my own Sweet Girl (Another Song off of my newest album Love Without Words). Well after about 6 years of marriage we gave birth to our second child, a little girl we happily named Emma! So glad that not only did the song came true, but to this day she continues to inspire new music!I have frequently gotten this one, "where did the name Mayapple Road come from." This song actually represents my current life, and my busy schedule working everyday as a social worker. This is actually a road I drive by frequently while I am working. this song is in contrast to A Day on Hamilton Street, which is a reflection of my childhood and where I grew up. Both songs are available on the album Love Without Words.
